The Quebec Food Banks (Banques alimentaires du Québec – BAQ) plays a crucial role in our food supply. In addition to specific financing for the purchase of food products, BAQ organize fundraising activities with various partners throughout the year. It is important to note that BAQ play a very important role for political representation.
Moisson Outaouais belongs to the national network of Food Banks Canada (FBC). Besides the distribution of foodstuffs and financial support, FBC coordinates major fundraising campaigns like the After the Bell Program that offers snacks to children in summer day camps. FBC is also lobbying the federal government by heightening awareness about food insecurity, and recommending measures to be taken.
Moisson Outaouais greatly depends on its agri-food suppliers to get foodstuffs. Moisson Outaouais’s network includes 58 local suppliers, including among others, shops, supermarkets, agri-food and farm producers. We also benefit from the support of the BAQ and FBC networks, as well as from fundraising campaigns organized by individuals and companies.
Our major supply source is the Supermarket Recovery Program (SRP).
