Moisson Outaouais Officially Launches Its Expansion Project with a First Groundbreaking
June 11, 2026
Moisson Outaouais proceeded today with the first groundbreaking, marking the official kick off of its expansion project “Growing Together”, a 6-million-dollar investment to meet the region’s increasing food insecurity.
The project will allow, in particular, to expand its facilities by 8,200 square feet, increase storage and food recuperation capacity, and triple the food processing production.
Moisson Outaouais presently meets more than 94,000 food aid requests every month, representing a 48% increase over the past four years. The organization also supports a network of 51 affiliated organizations in the Outaouais.
“This first groundbreaking is much more than the beginning of a construction site. It represents an important milestone for our organization and for the entire community we serve. Thanks to this project, we will be able to increase our storage capacity, improve our logistics and, above all, better meet the needs of our affiliated organizations and all those faced with food insecurity”, indicated Joseph Aghaby, President of the Moisson Outaouais Board of Directors.
Let’s not forget that this major fundraising campaign aims at raising 3.5 million dollars from the community and business sphere. Over 1.8 million dollars have already been raised, but we are still missing 1.7 million dollars in order to reach our goal. Faced with the constant increase in food assistance requests, we can no longer wait: it has become essential to launch the construction as of now, in order to respond to the urgency of the situation.
